First: What to wear? Temple then shopping. Churchy yet comfy. We ended up feeling underdressed for the temple and overdressed for the night out on the town. We had to laugh at our shoe choices. I went with flip-flops that could probably be called sandals and Karina decided on white flats. Tragically, they also had skulls on them.
You couldn't actually tell what was on them unless your face was 3 inches away - no real threat there (They still let us in). So, inappropriately dressed we headed out the door. Two women, One man and Four children. We all went to Ikea where we shopped, ate, and chatted. Good meatballs. Anyways, we had to capture our "Plig Family" (or at least some of us) on film.
It wouldn't have been so bad except we both had skirts on and my hair was in braids (see picture below). Yes. We are starting a Colorado City right here in the Heart of Holland. They will never know what hit them!
Sander drove us all to the temple. Ice cream was consumed. Tummies were happy. And the "mommies" were very excited for their night out.
The temple was wonderful. It was really neat to hear it in Dutch again. Karina and I had such a nice time getting away from it all. It was the boost that I needed. Sometimes you don't realize just how bad you need it until you get there. You realize that you have been holding your breath and that there, you can finally breathe again.
The tram dropped us off right in the middle of all the crazyness. There was a runway with models, dancers and entertainers. Some of the clothes were ridiculous but the music made up for it.
We had such a fun night. We found some great sales. We were so worn out that we HAD to eat before we headed home. Once we got back we found Sander waiting up for us...kind of.
