Attack of the Killer Ladybugs

On Monday the weather turned from cold to boiling.  And what else is one to do during hot weather than go to the beach?  Um, Go?  YES.  We had a grand old time.  The kids chased the waves for five hours and were totally content.  Karina and I chatted and played with the kids and ate cherries.

The sun was scorching and the waves were freezing.  There was even a crew right behind us filming a commercial or movie or something awesome.

It sounds like everything a day at the beach should be right?  WRONG.  Okay, it was great until we started noticing a few ladybugs.  They were so cute and the kids loved them.  But as the minutes passed we started seeing more and more of them.  They were multiplying at a frightening speed.  Then, they turned vicious.  I'm not joking.  They started dive-bombing into us.  It stung.  Elliot was trying to eat them all but he couldn't keep up with our attackers.  They swarmed us.  You know that movie The Birds?  Yeah.  Imagine that except with ladybugs instead of birds.  Karina was terrified that they would end up in her ears.  One flew into my mouth.  Sick.  I tell you what.  Those ladybugs were not acting very lady like.

This one looks all sweet on our blanket but don't be deceived!  Walking back to the car one started crawling across the inside of my sunglasses.  Once we got to the car Karina picked 5 out of my hair.  Can I say sick again?  Sick.  Don't let their sweet exterior fool you.  Watch your back people.
