I spent Easter on Mount Nebo. And since about a month has gone by I thought it was about time to do a post about the day. There is a Sunrise Service that some friends of mine go to every year. They invited me to join them in their tradition. Leaving the house at 4:45 was not so awesome but the rest of the day sure was.
The service was so Happy. There was wonderful music and a room full of people rejoicing!

The Bible says that it was from here that Moses was given a glimpse of their Promised Land. Although he never set foot in the Holy Land, he did stand on Holy Ground (Exodus 3:5). He was faithful when it was tempting to be doubtful. He was courageous when so many feared. He stood up to evil. He rebuked and praised and led and prophesied. He endured hard things and allowed those hard things to soften rather than harden his heart. No, he wasn't blessed with the experience of walking where the Mortal Jesus would one day walk. But He will be blessed to eternally walk where the Immortal Jesus WALKS, to ever be in the presence of The Holy One of Israel. Our rewards might not be what we anticipate. They will exceed our expectations if we choose to endure and remain faithful. Moses never forgot God's promises. And neither should we.

On a very clear day you can see Jerusalem from the summit. The day was pretty overcast
but the sign below shows you where several places are in relation to where we were.

After the service we wandered around, took in the sights and had a little picnic.
I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to spend Easter with wonderful friends in a wonderful place. I know that Jesus died for us and that He was resurrected three days later. He LIVES and oh how He loves us!
